Nigerians have been advised by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on steps to take if their Facebook account is hacked.

They noted that these steps should be taken first before victims contact the commission

They wrote:
Reporting a Hacked Facebook Account

Before contacting the EFCC to report about your hacked Facebook account, ensure you’ve followed these steps: . Try changing your password
If you are unable to do that, inform your family and friends about the compromise on your account
Report the hacked account to Facebook (the EFCC cannot take down your Facebook account) by: asking your contacts to report the hacked profile or create a new profile and report the old account
By so doing, the scammer will not be able to defraud anyone using your profile.

PS: Be weary of people chatting you up about investing in businesses unknown to you. Always contact your family or friends in situations that seem suspicious.
Do not be greedy. Most people are defrauded as a result of greed.
The #EFCC cares about you. Social media has its advantages and disadvantages so ensure that you #StaySafe.

Meanwhile, Naija News earlier reported that the Commission’s acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu has reacted the series of backlash the commission has received from Nigerians, condemning the raid at Club 360 in Ibadan Oyo State.

Since the commission raided a club in Ibadan and arrested 89 suspected internet fraudsters at the Club 360, located on Akala Expressway, Oluyole Extension in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital last weekend, they have been highly criticized..

Reacting however yesterday, Magu said the commission raids clubs because that’s where internet fraudsters gather and spend the money gotten from their victims.

“If it is nightclubs, these are the places the yahoo boys gather and spend the money. There is nothing wrong in raiding the yahoo boys at nightclubs,” he said.

The EFCC boss, who was in Ibadan to inspect the new recruits of the commission at the state zonal office on Wednesday added that “It is not about nightclub, raiding of nightclub is left to the police, we don’t have much power, and we will go there when we are sure it is the fraudsters
