Osinbajo In Closed-Door Meeting With Southwest Governors ‘Over Amotekun’
Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s Vice-President is currently meeting with Southwest governors at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The agenda of the meeting was not disclosed but a report monitored on TheCable by Naija News, quoted a presidential source to have said that the meeting is about “Operation Amotekun”, the regional security outfit floated by the governors.
This online news platform understands that the Inspector-General of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Mohammed Adamu, is also in attendance.
The meeting is coming barely 24-hours after Bola Tinubu, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, broke his silence on the establishment of Operation Amotekun.
In a statement on Wednesday, Tinubu said the foundation of the country had not been put at risk with the south-west regional security outfit launched by the governors of the zone in a bid to confront the insecurity in their states.
On the other hand, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, had described the security outfit as illegal but the governors said it has come to stay.
