Atiku Mourns Dead CAN Chairman

Former Vice President of Nigeria and 2019 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the killing of a CAN official by Boko Haram terrorists.

It will be recalled as earlier reported by Naija News that the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Revd. Lawan Andimi was beheaded by the insurgents on Monday.

This online medium recalls Andimi was abducted on January 2, 2020, by the Boko Haram insurgents who stormed his community.

It will be recalled this online platform also obtained and published a video of the CAN chairman who spoke out from Boko Haram custody where he expressed hope of been rescued from the insurgents.

In the video released by respected journalist, Ahmad Salkida, Rev. Andimi, however, declared that if its pleased God that he would not get out of captivity, they should look after his children.

However, Andimi was on Monday killed by members of the Boko Haram group after they had initially demanded the payment of ransom for his release.

Reacting to the development, Atiku in a tweet on his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday, condemned the sack incident and called on security operatives to ensure justice prevails.

“This development saddens me. There’s a compelling need to recalibrate our security architecture,” he said. “I sympathise with the family of Pastor Lawan Andimi and the entire body of CAN in Nigeria. May the soul of the deceased Rest In Peace,” he said.
