After several hours of raging fire which caught up with Abule Egba community in Lagos State due to pipeline vandalization carried out by some person, the fire has finally been put off.

Naija News had reported a few hours ago that a pipeline explosion has rocked Ile-Epo, Ekoro Axis of Abule Egba in Lagos state, Nigeria’s commercial city.

There are indications that the explosion occurred from a ruptured pipeline belonging to Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), caused by activities of vandals around the area, Naija News learned.

According to a tweet by the Lagos State Government, this morning at about 10:46 a.m, it was reported that the fire has been totally put off.

“After several hours of intense fire fighting by the combined teams of Lagos fire and other agencies, the fire at Ile Epo Ekoro Road, Abule-Egba Inwards Baruwa in Alimosho Local Government Area was successfully put out,” as tweeted by LASG tweeted at 10.46 am on Monday.

The incident which happened around 8 pm on Sunday has been condemned by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, while reacting to the fire.

He said; “My thoughts and prayers are with the families & businesses affected in the unfortunate incident at Abule Egba. We are thankful for the brave members of LASEMA & our fire service that swung into action working all night to reduce the impact. Pipeline Vandals will be shown no mercy.”

“We must work together to ensure man-made incidents like Abule Egba are avoided. Security and information gathering along volatile corridors will increase and a stronger synergy with communities must happen. We all have a role to play.”
