A seemingly new development has been unveiled as the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), launches a new method of taking student’s class attendance.

In a now-viral video obtained by Naija News, the management of UNIPORT has commenced the use of a biometric device to take the class record of students that attend lectures every day.

One could see in the video how the device is passed around the students, each placing his thumb on the device to mark register.

A development which was appreciated by many Nigerians.

Meanwhile, Naija News had earlier reported that the Academic Staff Union of Universities has suspended its process of taking a final verdict on the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System following the meeting with President Buhari.

Naija News understands that the President of the union (ASUU), Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi has said that the union is expecting the decision of President Buhari on the Integrated Personnel Payroll and Information System (IPPIS) and other Issues discussed with him last Thursday.

This online newspaper recalls that the union has been at loggerheads with the Federal Government over directives that ASUU members should enroll in the payroll system.
