Ihedioha Denies Pictures Of Him Weeping

Shortly after the Supreme Court judgment on Tuesday which sacked Emeka Ihedioha as the Imo State governor, pictures emerged on social media alleging Ihedioha was weeping over the development.

However, Ihedioha’s media team has denied that the former governor was crying as a result of the Supreme Court verdict as been portrayed in many quarters.

AIC Akwarandu, the special assistant on new media to Ihedioha in a statement released on Wednesday evening revealed that the pictures were taken at a funeral and not after the verdict of the supreme court as been portrayed.

“The picture circulating online does not in any way represent the mood of the Former Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, while the Supreme Court Judgment was announced”.

“The pictures was taken on Friday, 20th Of December, 2019, when the then Governor received the body of His departed Commissioner for Environment, Late Hon. Tony Okere, at the Council Chambers”.

“The State had organized a reception to pay last respect to the Commissioner at the Executive Chambers of Government House, Owerri”. “It is, therefore, wrong to assert that the picture was taken on the Day of the Supreme Court Judgment,” the statement noted.

Meanwhile, Naija News reports that Senator Hope Uzodinma has been sworn in as the new Imo State Governor.

He was sworn in on Wednesday after receiving his certificate of return from the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) following the Supreme Court judgment which declared him the winner of the 2019 governorship election in the state.
