Herdsmen on Wednesday led their cows to Ijare town in Ifedore local government area of Ondo state but community chiefs charged youths of the town to chase them away because they have been causing problems for the community.

The herders, however, left their cows behind and ran for their lives.

According to a source in Ijare town, the incident occurred after cautions have been given to the herdsmen by the community on the need to leave Ijare town after the destruction of many farmlands by their cows.

Naija news learnt that the herdsmen refused to leave and went further into distant places to rear their cows, but the community leaders were angry with their actions.

On Wednesday morning, youths of the community traced the herdsmen, who took to their heels, leaving their cows behind.

The cows over one hundred were led to the palace of Olujare of Ijare, Oba Oluwagbemigun Kokotiri for safety.

The source said the herdsmen have been adamant and it was high time they left.

He said further that they didn’t harm them but were surprised the way they ran away like being chased by a lion and what they want is to move their cows off Ijare

It was recalled that thunderstorm killed many cows in Ijare town last year on the hilltop.
