No Agreement With FG To Suspend Strike - ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has suspended its process of taking a final verdict on the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System following the meeting with Buhari.

Naija News Understands that the President of the union(ASUU), Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi has said that the union is expecting the decision of President Buhari on the Integrated Personnel Payroll and Information System (IPPIS) and other Issues discussed with him last Thursday.

This online newspaper recalls that the union have been at loggerheads with the Federal Government over directives that ASUU members should enrol in the payroll system.

However, the union drew up its own model which it calls the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) to counter the payroll system and also threatened to go on strike if the government insisted on the IPPIS.

Meanwhile, Ogunyemi also revealed that the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige, and Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, alluded to the possibility of ‘marrying’ ASUU’s UTAS with IPPIS.

He denied that President Buhari put a closure to the discussions.
