Ondo Council Approves Olugbenga Ojo As New Oba Of Isinkan

Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has made some clarification on Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami stand on the creation of Operation Amotekun.

Today in an interview with the Channels Tv, Akeredolu said that he is sure of one thing, which is that laws are not made out from the AGF’s desk.

Naija News understands that Akeredolu has stated this to respond to suggestions that ‘Operation Amotekun’ is illegal.

He said; “One thing is clear, laws are not made in the office of the Attorney General; he can only interpret the laws and give positions of government on matters relating to the law.

“When he comes out with relevant portions of the law on the matter, we will consider it and respond adequately as the law stipulates.”

It could be recalled that Akeredolu alongside his colleagues from other Southwest about a week ago have launched Amotekun in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

Akeredolu added that the governors from the region are yet to meet since the pronouncement from the office of the AGF.

“We have not met, but I can assure you that when we meet, we will adequately respond to the position of the AGF.”

In another news, Naija News had reported Governors of the South-West Region in Nigeria are studying the recent pronouncement by the Federal Government which declared Operation Amotekun illegal.

This was revealed by the Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, on Tuesday when he was asked by newsmen at a press dinner with the media in the state to react to the decision of the Federal Government to outlaw Operation Amotekun.
