Following a protest by Iranians for the immediate resignation of their Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khramenei, the government on Monday has debunked the reports that it tries to ‘cover-up’ the Ukranian Airline crash that occurred a few days ago.

Naija News understands that protesters had demanded the resignation of Ayatollahit, seeing that it took days for the armed forces to admit that Ukrainian airliner was shot down by mistake last week.

Reacting to whether Iran cover-up or not,  It spokesman Ali Rabiei in an interview on state television said; “In these sorrowful days, many criticisms were directed at relevant officials and authorities… some officials were even accused of lying and a cover-up but, in all honesty, that was not the case.”

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Britain, Boris Johnson, and German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, have condemned the Iranian government over the arrest of the UK ambassador to Tehran, Robert Macaire.

The spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s office who released a statement after the meeting with the German Chancellor said, “On Iran, they discussed the tragic loss of life on the Ukraine International Airlines passenger jet.”

“They condemned Iran’s arrest of the UK ambassador to Tehran as a violation of international law”.
