Tinubu: Fani-Kayode Takes Personal Decision On APC's Muslim-Muslim Ticket Bid

The Minister of Aviation under the Goodluck Jonathan administration, Femi Fani-Kayode, has commended the establishment of Amotekun security outfit in the Southwest.

The former minister called on the governors in the South-East and South-South to follow the steps of the South-West governors in their regions.

Fani-Kayode in a post on his Twitter account noted that self-defence is important due to the insecurity challenges in the region.

He wrote: “The Amotekun security outfit & initiative is the best thing that has happened to the Southwest states in the last 4 years. I commend the Southwest Governors and all those involved in its formation and establishment. I urge the Governors of South-South and Southeast to do the same. Self-defence is the first law!”.

Recall that the Southwest governors on Thursday launched the Western Nigeria Security Network, popularly known as “Amotekun”.

The Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, while speaking on the establishment of “Amotekun” said the decision was not to undermine the power of the Federal Government of Nigeria but to ensure adequate security in the Southwest.

Fayemi stated this during the official launch of the security outfit which had the presence of
the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde and the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.

Others were Deputy Governor of Ogun, Noimat Salako-Oyedele, Deputy Governor of Osun, Benedict Gboyega Alabi, Yoruba World Congress Leader, Professor Banji Akintoye and Otunba Deji Osinbogun
