Runsewe Reacts To Court Arrest Order

Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, Director-General of the National Council for Art and Culture (NCAC) has reacted to the court order on his arrest.

In his reaction, Runsewe said some powerful forces bent of forcing him out of office are responsible for his travails in court.

It will be recalled Naija News on Thursday reported that a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered Runsewe’s arrest with immediate effect for court contempt and directed he be handed over to the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCS).

However, Runsewe said his refusal to dance to the tune of some powerful forces over a government property – the Art and Craft village (Opposite Abuja Sheraton) valued at N9.8 billion, was why he is being victimized.

“I wonder why, some people are bent on converting government property to a haven of inappropriate engagement; hence, the police have to close down the place.

“The Art and Craft village belongs to the Federal Republic Of Nigeria. It does not belong to me but to the Nigerian people, so I would be failing in my duties as a public officer and appointee of government if I cannot protect government property to which I was mandated to oversee,” Runsewe told newsmen.

He further expressed determination to continue to serve his country as allowed by the law including protecting Nigerian cultural assets both within and outside Nigeria despite the intimidation against him.

It will be recalled Otunba Runsewe back in 2019, threatened to deal with Nigerian male barbie, Idris Okuneye popularly known as Bobrisky. The federal government official labeled him a ‘national disgrace’ that if left alone, can negatively influence the country’s youths.

In his response, Bobrisky had retorted to Runsewe’s threats that he rolls with the official’s superiors in government and is not scared of his threats.
