Abia PDP Chairman Slumps, Dies

The Transition Committee Chairman of Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State, southeast Nigeria, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Onyekachi Okoro, is dead.

Naija News learned that Okoro slumped in Umuahia at about 1pm on Thursday, and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, where he was pronounced dead.

This online news platform understands that Okoro’s death was confirmed by a PDP chieftain in the State.

Anthony Nwankwo, the State PDP Chairman, while addressing journalists at the Medical Centre, revealed that the deceased held a meeting with some officials of the Council in Umuahia before he slumped.

His words: “The man had a meeting with the council’s Head of Service and Treasurer in Umuahia.

“Thereafter, he visited the house of our leader (name witheld). At the place, he went into the rest room.

“When he came out of the rest room, he started feeling somehow and eventually slumped.”

The PDP Chairman said that the Medical Doctor was contacted immediately but all efforts to resuscitate him failed.

It was learned that Okoro who was appointed as Local Government Chairman in December, did not die in Arochukwu as falsely published on social media platforms.
