Soleimani: US Writes UN, Speaks On What It Is Ready To Do For Americans
The US government has told the United Nations that actions would be taken to protect its nationals and their interests in the Middle East.
This, the US Ambassador to the UN, Kelly Craft, made this known in a letter to the UN Security Council.
According to her, the killing of Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad on Friday had been justified under Article 51 of the UN Charter, which allows countries to immediately report to the 15-member Security Council, any measures taken in exercising the right of self-defense.
Maj. Gen. Soleimani, the Commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, was killed in a US airstrike on his convoy near Baghdad airport on Friday.
America has vowed that it would continue to defend its personnel and assets in the region.
