Oye-Ekiti Bank Robbery: Police Arraigns Three Men

Three men have been arraigned by the Ekiti State police command before an Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over the bank robbery in Oye-Ekiti.

The three men before the court were identified as Omotoso Aliu, 56; Oyelowo Akande, 56; and Taiwo Ayobami, 52.

Recall that the bank robbery saw a policeman on duty killed, while an undisclosed amount of money was stolen from the bank during the robbery.

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale, while speaking in the court noted that the defendants conspired to rob the new generation bank in Oye-Ekiti.

Akinwale added that the defendants and others still at large committed the offence on November 21, 2019, around 3.05 pm.

The police prosecutor noted that the offence contravened Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. The counsel to the defendants, Timi Omotoso, called on the court to grant his clients bail, promising that they would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Adesoji Adegboye, in his ruling, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each with one surety each in like sum.
