The Supreme Court of Nigeria will 2 pm today deliver judgement in the Abia State Governorship election tussle.

Naija News reports that Alex Otti of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is challenging the victory of Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 governorship election.

A seven-man of the Supreme Court, led by Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour, after taking arguments from lawyers to parties, said the judgment will be delivered at 2pm today.

Recall that the appeal filed by Otti had been struck out by the Appeal Court sitting in Owerri, the Imo state capital which was headed by Justice R.A Adah.

The appellate court in its ruling, affirmed the re-election victory of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu who contested on the platform of the PDP.

It will also be recalled that a three-man panel of the Governorship Election Petition, chaired by Justice A.L. Ogumoye, sitting in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, had dismissed the petition filed by APGA gubernatorial candidate, Dr Alex Otti against the second term victory of Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu.

The tribunal ruled that the petitioner failed to prove the case of over-voting, non-compliance to the INEC election guideline and the electoral act.

Otti had alleged before the tribunal that there were cases of excessive malpractice in fifteen out of the seventeen local government areas election results in Abia State to favour Ikpeazu and therefore urged the tribunal to cancel the results of affected LGAs.
