A farmer identified as Ternenge Fidelis has been remanded by the Magistrates’ Court in Makurdi in a correctional centre for allegedly defiling his daughter.
The father was charged by the police with criminal intimidation and defilement.
The prosecution counsel, Ato Godwin, noted that the incident was reported at the Adikpo police station by one Patricia Kaave of behind Glo antenna Jato-Aka, Benue on Dec 21, 2019.
Godwin further stated that the defendant had carnal knowledge of his 15-year-old daughter and threatened to harm her if she tells anyone.
Magistrate Ajuma Igama, in his ruling, ordered the defendant to be remanded in correctional centre pending legal advice and thereafter, adjourned the case till Jan 31, for further mention.
The Magistrate ordered the police to return the case file to the Benue Director of Public Prosecutions.
