Army Commander Survives Boko Haram Ambush

Major Gen. Olusegun Adeniyi, Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole on Monday night, survived a Boko Haram ambush attack.

The attack was said to have happened a few kilometers away from Jakana, on Monday around 7: 20 pm.

Naija News gathered the vehicle of the theatre commander was badly damaged and riddled with gun shots from the attack.

Major. Gen Adeniyi, however, survived the attack as troops in the commander’s convoy successfully repelled the attack on them.

The theatre commander was on his way back to Maiduguri after a visit to troops who were recently deployed to Jakana to protect lives and property in the area against Boko Haram attack.

“As we were coming back to Maiduguri after we left Jakana, suddenly we started hearing gun shots all over the place. They bombarded us with heavy fire from different angles but our men with the Theatre commander successfully repelled the attack,” the source quoted by Daily Trust said.

This development is coming a few hours after reports of Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State accusing some soldiers on the Maiduguri highway of extorting money from road users and causing hardship in the community.
