Marvel Studios boss Kevin Fiege said a transgender character will be among the superheroes and superheroines in the next Marvel movie. Diversity seems to be at the heart of the next films from the production house, which multiplies the roles of different characters.

“It is very soon, in the film we are currently shooting,” he replied to the question of an admirer who asked if there were plans for LGBTQ characters to enter the universe of Marvel, especially transgender characters.

It’s not the first time we’ve talked about a possible first transgender character in Marvel movies. Last July, the Geeks WorldWide site claimed that Marvel was looking for a transgender actress to take on the costume of Jessica, the first transgender superheroine.

A transgender character appeared in the comic book Angela: Asgard’s Assassin # 1 in 2015 under the name of Sera.

In addition, a character from the twenty-fifth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Eternals, will be gay. Another character will be deaf. A first Asian superhero will also be featured in the film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which should be released in 2020 or 2021.
