Breaking: Popular Nollywood Veteran Actor Dies In Lagos

Samuel Akinpelu, a popular Nollywood veteran actor, best known as ‘Alabi Yellow’, is dead.

Naija News reports that Alabi Yellow died on Sunday, December 22 at Hopewell hospital in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial city.

Folakunmi Anike popularly called “Olori Lumous”, who is a family member of the deceased, member, Folakunmi Anike popularly called “Olori Lumous”, broke the news of Alabi Yellow’s death in a chat with Amebo Feeds.

Naija News reports that Alabi Yellow’s death is coming a year after he suffered a stroke after the death of his wife.

The news of the Nollywood veteran actor’s ill health was announced on March 26, 2018, by the Executive Chairman of Best Of Nollywood Awards, Seun Oloketuyi.

Executive Chairman of Best Of Nollywood Awards had announced that the actor suffered a partial stroke shortly after the demise of his wife.

Reacting, Esther Ajayi, a reverend, who funded Baba Suwe’s medical trip to the U.S., donated N10 million for Alabi Yellow’s medical treatment but despite the treatment, the actor gave up the ghost today.

Before his death, over four decades after his debut as a professional actor, Alabi Yellow was one of the most recognisable faces in the Yoruba movie industry.

Aside from acting, Alabi Yellow was also the author of a Yoruba literature book, ‘A Ba Oko Ku’ which has been included in the curriculum for pupils in junior secondary school.
