1. Senate Pass 2020 Budget, Increase By N45.48b

The 2020 Budget of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with an increase of N45.48 billion has today been passed by the Nigerian senate. The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan further urged that the budget be fully implemented by the FCT authorities.

2. Nigerians Will Not Sleep Again If I Reveal What Is Going On In The Country – TY Danjuma Cries Out

General Theophilus Danjuma (rtd), a former Minister of Defence in Nigeria has stated that Nigerians will no longer sleep if he reveals what is happening in the country. Speaking further, the retired general lamented that everybody seems to have lost their voice and become scared in Yorubaland.

3. ‘Talk Before It Is Too Late’ – Fani-Kayode Tells TY Danjuma

The re-introduction of the hate speech bill by the 9th National Assembly has attracted a reaction from the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi 111. Speaking on Thursday, the first class traditional ruler slammed the lawmakers for their insensitivity in re-introducing the hate speech bill.

5. Buhari Approves New CMD’s Appointment

The appointment of Professor Abba Sheshe as the new Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) Kano, Kano State, has been approved by President Muhammadu Buhari. His appointment was announced by the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, through a statement signed by Mrs Enefaa Bob-Manuel, Head, Media and Public Relations of the ministry in Abuja.

No fewer than four female professors, 21 others are jostling for the substantive position of Vice-Chancellor, Adamawa State University, Mubi, records have shown. The Chairman of the Governing Council of the university, Auwal Tukur, who dropped the hint on Friday said that the council received a total of 25 applications from interested applicants across the country.

7. Nigerian Government To Increase Electricity Tariffs By 2020

The Minister of Power, Engr Saleh Mamma has revealed that the country will increase the electricity tariffs as the Federal Government hopes to complete power projects across the country. Naija News learnt The minister said the rise in the cost of electric power generation had made it mandatory for there to be a hike in tariffs. He also revealed that under the new differential power distribution policy, electricity would be wheeled directly from the generation companies to willing consumers who are ready to fully settle their bills.

Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has stated that Drones and CCTV camera’s would be used to monitor the 2020 University and Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME). This he stated while speaking at a two-day meeting with Computer Based Test (CBT) Centre Operators, State Coordinators of the Board, Financial Institutions and Internet Service Providers yesterday in Zaria, Kaduna State.

9. Arsenal Appoint Mikel Arteta As Head Coach

Manchester City assistant manager, Mikel Arteta, has been appointed as the new head coach of the Arsenal Football Club. Naija News reports that Arteta, who is a former Arsenal player, was given a three-and-a-half-year deal at the North London club.

10. James Bond Co-Star Actress, Claudine Auger Dies At 78

French actress Claudine Auger, best known for her role as a Bond Girl “Domino” alongside Sean Connery in the 1965 James Bond film Thunderball has died at the age of 78. Naija News Understands that the French star, began her career as a model and represented France at the 1958 Miss World competition. She took acting lessons at that time and got small film roles including 1962 film The Iron Mask, about the Three Musketeers.
