The Police Command in Kogi State has banned the use of fireworks across the state during the festive season.

The Kogi State police command in a statement through his spokesperson, William Aya, on Friday, charged parents and guardians to restrain their children and wards from using fireworks, he added that the command’s position against knockouts is a strategy to encourage security in the State.

Aya noted that anyone caught using knock out will be arrested and prosecuted.

“The Commissioner of Police Hakeem Busari hereby advised all law-abiding people in the State to go about their lawful businesses and warn that the Command will not hesitate to apply the full wrath of the law against persons who take the law into their hands.”

“To this end, the Nigeria Police Force is assuring the good people of the State of adequate security arrangements to secure life and property during this period and hereby appealed to them to support the Police and other security agencies with timely and credible information on the activities of criminal elements so as to curtail same”.
