Seyi Makinde Hails Supreme Court Verdict

Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State has reacted following the final verdict delivered by the Supreme Court of Nigeria on Wednesday regarding the result of the 2019 Oyo State governorship election.

It will be recalled that the Supreme Court in a unanimous judgment on Wednesday, said Makinde was duly elected governor of the South Western state.

The apex court also agreed with Governor Makinde’s appeal that the majority judgment of the Appeal Court was a miscarriage of justice.

The court by its decision, dismissed the appeal filed by Adebayo Adelabu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election, thereby laying to rest all issues surrounding the March 9 governorship election in the state.

In his reaction, Gov. Makinde said the Supreme Court verdict has affirmed his faith and confidence in the judiciary as the last hope for the oppressed.

“I am overwhelmed by the goodwill & congratulatory messages we’ve received as a result of the affirmation of our victory at the polls by the Supreme Court, earlier today. I am delighted that our faith & confidence in the judiciary as the last hope for the oppressed was rewarded,” the Oyo State Governor said.
