The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has revealed that it has uncovered corrupt practices by parliamentarians in the implementation of constituency projects.

Naija News learnt that the ICPC task force report, the Constituency Projects Tracking Group (CPTG), Nigerian lawmakers connive with agencies to embezzle billions of naira meant for constituency projects. The report covered 12 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The states, according to the report, are Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Benue, Edo, Enugu, Imo, Kano, Kogi, Lagos, as well as Osun and Sokoto.

The report, which was in its first phase, tracked 424 projects from 2015–2018 zonal intervention projects between June and August 2019. It revealed duplications of some contracts of the same description, same narrative, same amount, same location awarded by the same agency.

The commission expressed worries that in some instances, allocation for constituency projects doubled that of small and medium enterprises development agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).
