Fuel Subsidy: Falana Reacts As NLC Plans To Embark On Nationwide Strike

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) has called on President Muhammadu Buhari’s media aides to apologise over their comments on the rearrest of Omoyele Sowore.

Naija News reports that the Department of State Services (DSS) last Thursday night had released Sowore after spending 124 days in detention.

This was following a court ruling ordering DSS to release him in the next 24 hours.

However, the secret police on Friday morning re-arrested Sowore in the premises of the Federal High court, Abuja and reportedly took the activist to the DSS headquarters.

However, Buhari’s media aides, Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu, had denied reports that that the DSS invaded the courtroom to arrest Sowore.

Speaking at the 14th Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting at Ikeja, Lagos, Femi Falana said the presidential aides must apologise for denying the invasion.

He demanded “an apology from the media aides of the President, for playing on the collective intelligence of Nigerians through false statements issued on the invasion of the court by the men of the DSS. This is because the DSS has apologised to the Judge on the incident.”
