Former Arsenal tough-tackling midfielder Patrick Vieira has refused to distance himself from the available managerial role at the Gunners.

Arsenal are with a manager following the sacking of Spaniard Unai Emery and his coaching crew.

A former member of the Invincible, Freddie Ljungberg, was tasked with coaching the Gunners in the interim.

But results have failed to improve at the Emirates, Arsenal drawing with Norwich and losing to Brighton in Ljungberg’s two games in charge so far.

Patrick Vieira, who played for the Gunners for nine years and captained the side for three, said he would be interested in Arsenal if the club were to approach him.

“You can never ignore a club where you’ve spent nine years.

“But, honestly, I’m focused on this project at Nice, I feel very good here. It’s a very exciting project.

“I’ve always said that I’m very happy in Nice. We’re all working to move the club forward and there is potential,” Vieira told Canal+
