President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to Anthony Joshua’s victory over Mexican’s Andy Ruiz Jnr in a thriling 12-round encounter.

In a statement on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, Buhari congratulated Joshua for regaining his belts.

The president noted that Joshua’s supporters across the world had rooted for him to regain the titles he lost six months ago.

“The downfall of a man is truly not the end of his life. There’s always another, and better day. This is a lesson we must all learn from you as a country,” President Buhari told Joshua.

He wished Joshua well as he seeks to bring more glory to Nigeria, and to the boxing profession.

Naija News reports that Joshua had defeated Andy Ruiz after 12-round of a thrilling fight on Saturday night.

Anthony Joshua (AJ) won by unanimous decision, with the judges scoring AJ 118-110. 118-110. 119-109.

Joshua reclaimed WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight world titles in front of 15,000 spectators.

Recalls that Ruiz had defeated the former heavyweight champion in the seventh round back in June, at the Maddison Square in New York.
