Former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has charged the club’s board to give Freddie Ljungberg a maximum of six matches to prove that he can replace the Gunner’s ex-coach, Unai Emery.

The North London side had sacked Emery last Friday following the Gunners poor form and their 2-1 defeat to Frankfurt in the Europa League.

Ljungberg upon Emery’s dismissal was appointed as the interim manager of the club while he led Arsenal to a 2-2 draw at Norwich on Sunday.

He is expected to lead the Gunners to their first victory against Brighton in the Premier League after two months of poor performance.

Wenger while speaking at an event for the charity Grief Encounter, said: “If Freddie can’t stabilise in the next five or six games, you will need to put it to a guy with some experience.”

“But I hope they take off with Freddie.”
