I Didn’t Expect Messi To Win Ballon d’Or – Mother

Celia Cuccittini, the mother of Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi, has noted that she was surprised her son won the Ballon d’Or on Monday.

The Argentina captain won the award for the sixth time on Monday ahead of Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk and Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo.

Celia while speaking during an interview said, “I am very happy. We were not expecting this.”

“We thought the fifth had been the last. Honestly, this was a beautiful surprise. He (Messi) did not expect it either.”

“I do not know if he found out minutes before, I do not know, but we did not know anything,” Celia said.
