The United States of America has warned its citizens from travelling to Burkina Faso having raised its travel advisory for the country to level 4.

The US advised its citizens not to travel to Burkina Faso due to terrorism, crime, and kidnapping.

The African country joins other countries like Somalia, Syria, Venezuela, Bolivia on the travel ban list.

The State Department in an advisory noted that it has ordered all family members of U.S. government employees not of age to leave Burkina Faso.

The department added that it has also ordered the voluntary departure of non-emergency U.S. staff and family members.

“Terrorist groups continue plotting attacks in Burkina Faso.”

“Terrorists may conduct attacks anywhere with little or no warning,” the State Department said.

It added that the U.S. government is “unable to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens throughout most of the country”.
