The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the killing of two policemen of the Command by unknown kidnappers in Mubi, a commercial town north of the state capital Yola.

Naija News learnt that the two policemen were killed on Monday night by gunmen who hid in the bush around Gyella Road, in Mubi South Local Government Area.

According to a source, the two police officers might have been killed and six residents kidnapped when some gunmen attacked police and civilian vehicles on Gyella Road.

The police command, later assured that nobody was kidnapped in the course of the Monday night attack.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Sulaiman Nguroje, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), confirmed the killing of the two policemen.

He said that last night some police officers on patrol saw a man wandering around a bush path and considering the atmosphere of the man curious.

According to the explanation the man gave, the officers found out that he had just escaped from kidnappers. The officers then took the decision to move into the bush to force out the said kidnappers.

He concluded that police command had mobilised men and officers to the entire Mubi and its environs deep down to the border communities next to the Cameroon Republic to demolish the criminal hideouts in the area.
