Tension As Gunmen Kill Five Soldiers In Anambra Community

Unknown gunmen have kidnapped three Chinese expatriates at a mining site in Ijoka village near Itagunmodi in Atakumosa West Area of Osun State.

Naija News reports that the gunmen stormed the site on Monday afternoon and exchanged gunshots with the police team providing security for the Chinese and reportedly killed one police orderly before they could carry out the kidnap.

It was gathered that a Chinese expatriate that tried to escape from the gunmen was shot and injured.

The expatriate is currently at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, Ile-Ife, receiving medical treatment.

Naija News understands that Police Commissioner in Osun State, Abiodun Ige, led detectives to the scene of the kidnap.

Speaking to newsmen, CP Ige disclosed that operatives of the Nigeria police are already in the bushes in search of the abductors.

Recall that gunmen had on May 2018, kidnapped the traditional ruler of the gold-rich Itagumodi, the Alagunmodi, Oba Michael Ojo Famadewa.

A ransom of N1.7 million had to be paid before Oba Michael Ojo regained his freedom.
