Gunmen Attack Customs Officers Near Navy Base In Abia

Unknown gunmen on Monday abducted another Catholic priest, Reverend Father Malachy Asadu in Nsukka, Enugu State.

Fr Asadu was abducted along Imilike-Nsukka Road on his way from a diocesan meeting held at Thereasa Cathedral, Nsukka.

Confirming the kidnap of the clergyman, the spokesperson of the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, said that details of the priest’s abduction were still sketchy.

He, however, said police operatives have since commenced a manhunt for the hoodlums with a view to securing the priest unhurt.

Naija News reports that the kidnapping of Father Asadu had brought to nine, the number of Catholic priests kidnapped in Enugu State in eight months.

Recall that gunmen had kidnapped the Vice-Rector at the Queen of Apostle Spiritual Year Seminary, Imezi-Owa in Ezeagu LGA of Enugu State, Rev. Fr. Arinze Madu.

Suspected Fulani herdsmen had two months ago killed Rev FR Paul Offu, the Catholic Parish Priest of St. James, the Greater Parish, Ugbawka, in Enugu.
