Kogi Declares Public Holiday For Election

The executive governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello has approved Friday, November 15 as a public holiday for all schools in the state.

According to a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the state ministry of education, Mr. Eric Aina, all public and private schools are to proceed on holiday from Nov. 15, 2019, towards the Nov. 16 elections in the state.

The statement noted that the break was to ensure that all students and pupils are united with their families during the election.

Academic activities would resume on Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, it noted.

“All parents, school heads, teachers and stakeholders in the education sector are enjoined to take note and observe the break accordingly,” he said.

Naija News reports the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed Saturday, November 16 for the conduct of governorship election in the state as well as the rerun National Assembly election for Kogi West senatorial district.
