2023: How To Stop Buhari’s ‘Third Term’ Bid – Arewa Youths

The President, Arewa Youths Consultative Forum (AYCF), Yerima Shettima, has kicked against any attempt to extend the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

Naija News reports that some group had called on President Buhari to extend his tenure.

Also, constitutional lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) accused President Buhari of secretly plotting a third term bid in 2023.

Femi Falana revealed moves Buhari and his men are making to elongate his tenure.

He said such moves include; trying to stifle free speech, a crackdown on the media, including the new media, disobedience of court order.

In a chat with Daily Post, Shettima warned that Arewa youths would be mobilised to stop such move by the present administration.

He said any move to elongate Buhari’s tenure would suffer the same fate as that of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

“We are aware that certain things are going on in this government. We are aware that the issue of third term agenda is ongoing but the government has not come out openly to say that there was such plan or not,” Shettima said.

“The rumour of the third term is everywhere and it will die just like Obasanjo’s third term bid because we are determined to mobilise and ensure that the issue of third-term does not see the light of the day.”
