Dr. Sanusi Mohammed, the General Secretary of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has denied reports that the football body had sacked Manu Garba as coach of the U17 team.

Naija News reports that the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria were eliminated in the Round of 16, at the ongoing FIFA U17 World Cup in Brazil.

Reports emerged immediately after Nigeria’s ouster that Manu Garba had been relieved of his duties as coach of the Under-17 team.

But speaking to SportingLife, Sanusi rubbished any plan to sack Manu Garba.

The NFF scribe stated that a full technical report from Garba will be reviewed by the football body Technical Committee headed by Ahmed Yusuf before the board can take any decision.

He said: “I know that much was expected from the team and many football pundits favoured the Eaglets to lift the trophy being a five-time winner of the cadet championship but you know in football anything can happen.

“Though I was not particularly happy with our ouster it doesn’t warrant the federation sacking a coach with a valid contract.

“I can tell you categorically that Coach Manu Garba has not been sacked by the federation.”
