JUST IN: Reps Begin Probe Of NSIA

The House of Representatives on Wednesday commenced investigating four members who claim to be leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House.

Naija News reports that those being investigated are Hon. Kingsley Chinda, Toby Okechukwu, Umar Barde and Muraina Ajibola.

Recall that Hon. Ndudi Elumelu had emerged the Minority Leader of the party in the House of Reps, going against the wish of the PDP who had pencilled down Hon. Chinda from Rivers State for the position.

The PDP had set up a committee to investigate the illegal emergence of Elumelu as the Minority Leader of the House.

However, Chinda and the others lost the battle for the leadership of the minority caucus of the House.

Raising a point of order on Wednesday, a PDP member, Ben Igbakpa, called for a probe into activities of Chinda and others.

The Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Wase, who presided over the plenary on Wednesday, referred the matter to the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges for investigation.

The conglomerate of opposition parties in the House had appointed Ndudi Elumelu as Minority Leader, Chukwuma Onyema as Deputy Minority Leader, Gideon Gwani as Minority Whip, and Adesegun Adekoya as Deputy Minority Whip.
