Delta Police Arrest Uncle, Nephew For Alleged Robbery

A suspected armed robber, Chigozie Ohamago and his uncle, Patrick Okonkwo, have been arrested by the Delta State police command due to a connection with a robbery case in Okpanam community near Asaba.

The development was disclosed by the spokesperson of the command, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya.

DSP Onovwakpoyeya in a statement also revealed that one pump action gun and one fabricated pistol was recovered from the suspects by the police.

He said, “On the 2nd of November 2019, at about 1300hrs, one Okpala Wisdom’s of Umumake Okpanam reported at Okpanam Police Station that on 01/10/2019 at about 2100hrs, two unidentified gunmen attempted to rob his visitor, one Timothy Obanor of his belongings by firing a gun into the air, one of the suspects identified as Chigozie Ohamago of Ogbedogu quarters Okpanam was arrested.”

“Investigation was extended to the suspect’s house by a team of detectives led by the DCO where a search warrant was executed and guns recovered.”

The suspect while speaking after the arrest noted that the pump-action was given to him by his uncle, while the fabricated pistol was given to him by one Japheth.

DSP Onovwakpoyeya, who noted that efforts are in place to arrest Japheth said Patrick Okonkwo has been arrested and a full investigation has commenced.
