1. Supreme Court Takes Final Decision On HDP’s Appeal Against Buhari’s Election

The Supreme Court of Nigeria on Monday dismissed a fresh suit filed by the Hope Democratic Party (HDP) and it’s presidential candidate, Ambrose Owuru, against the election victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the Feb. 23 presidential election.

It will be recalled that the HDP and its 2019 presidential candidate had asked the apex court to reverse itself in the ruling delivered on October 3.

2. State Governors Take Fresh Decision On Minimum Wage

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), says the consequential increments in the implementation of the N30,000 Minimum Wage Law would depend on the capacity of each state government.

Naija News reports that this was revealed by Kayode Fayemi, the chairman of the forum and Governor of Ekiti State, while briefing newsmen at the end of the meeting of the forum held in Abuja on Monday.

3. Buhari Discusses Border Re-Opening In Closed-Door Meeting With Governor Emefiele

President Muhammadu Buhari has today engaged Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in a closed-door meeting.

The meeting, which held at the President’s office within the State House, Aso Villa, started around 11.30 am.

4. Gunmen Kidnap Police Inspector, Others In Abuja

A Police Inspector of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and one other person, have been reportedly kidnapped in Rubochi community in Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Nigeria’s capital by unknown gunmen.

A report monitored on The Nation newspaper by Naija News said the Police Inspector and one other person were kidnapped around midnight on Sunday, October 27 by gunmen who stormed the community shooting sporadically.

5. Atiku vs Buhari: APC Reveals Fresh PDP’s Plot Against Supreme Court

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of planning to use foreign media to blackmail Nigeria judiciary.

Naija News reports that the Supreme Court has fixed Wednesday, October 30, to rule on the appeal filed by the PDP and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, against the ruling of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT).

6. IPPIS: No Pay, No Work – ASUU Dares FG

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has threatened to down tools over plans by the federal government to enrol university workers in the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

The body made its position known on Sunday during a press conference held at the University of Ibadan by its South-West branch.

7. Nigerian Killed, 2 Others Injured In Fresh Xenophobic Attack In South Africa

A Nigerian, Chikamso Ufordi, who hailed from Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, southeast Nigeria, has been killed in a fresh xenophobic attack in South Africa.

Naija News reports that the latest xenophobic attack which claimed Ufordi’s life, happened at about 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26, in Nigel. The attack also left two others injured.

8. President Buhari To Travel To London On Private Visit

President Muhammadu Buhari leaves the country today (Monday) on an official trip to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to attend the Economic Forum of the Future Investment Initiative (FII) in Riyadh.

As earlier reported by Naija News, President Buhari will hold bilateral talks with His Majesty King Salman and His Majesty King Abdullah ll of Jordan on the sidelines of the event.

9. 2023: Shehu Sani Reveals Who He Is Supporting For Presidency

A former senator representing Kaduna central, Shehu Sani has advocated the rotation of presidential power to the Southern region of the country in 2023.

Sani hinted that the failure to give other regions in the country a shot at the presidency in 2023 may cause further agitations politically and otherwise in Nigeria.

10. Ohaneze Urges President Buhari To Change The Name Of Nigeria

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization,(Ohanaeze Ndigbo) has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari led administration to look for another better and positive name for the country.

Speaking on the danger of retaining the name Nigeria as the National name of the country, the deputy spokesman of the organization, Comrade Chuks Ibegbu in a statement noted that the name, “Nigeria was given to us by a lover of Lord Lugard who later became his wife and was given at the heat of passion.
