The body of the late ISIS leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been disposed of at sea, officials of the United States military revealed.
Naija News learnt that the US forces were able to confirm his identity using DNA samples taken from his underwear and blood.
It was discovered that an unnamed US military dog became an unlikely hero of the raid, incurring injuries as it chased Baghdadi down a dead-end tunnel underneath his northwestern Syria hideout, where the jihadist blew himself and three children up with a suicide vest.
Speaking further on the daring raid and death of Baghdadi, the officials said the remains of the ISIS leader was discovered by the U.S. troops after digging through debris to reach his corpse. He also revealed that soldiers conducted a DNA test using a small field kit to confirm his identity.
The leader of the Kurdish militia said they had a source undercover in Baghdadi’s inner circle who had direct access to the ISIS leader. The source gave U.S. intelligence a pair of Baghdadi’s used underwear and a blood sample at some point this summer.
