Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu Warns Those Begging Buhari For His Return To Bury Mother

The leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has warned those including monarchs, pleading with President Muhammadu Buhari led-government to grant him pardon and allow him to return home to bury his late mother, Ugoeze Sally Nnenne Okwu-Kanu.

Naija News had reported earlier that Kanu’s mother died August 30 in Germany, the IPOB leader announced in a video sighted by Naija News.

The IPOB leader had lamented that the events of the “14th of September 2017” (the invasion of his hometown by the Nigerian military), contributed “immensely to her ill-health which unfortunately the doctors were not able to do anything about.”

Describing the late Ugoeze as “caring and compassionate,” Kanu said his mother “watching and seeing how children” were killed – “twenty-eight (28) of them in total” during the clash with the military and “having to see their dead bodies, traumatized her to the extent that she took ill of which she never recovered.”

Reacting to reports in the Nigerian media, suggesting that some monarchs are pleading with the Nigerian government to grant him pardon and allow him to return home to bury his late mother, Kanu warned that he did not authorise anyone to lobby the Nigerian Government on his behalf.

Naija News understands that Kanu strongly rejected the lobbying by some monarchs during a live interview with the Voice Of America (VOA), in Washington DC, the United States on Saturday, October 27.

The IPOB leader maintained that if the Nigerian government grants the request of the monarchs for him to return home to bury his mother he would not honour it.

His words: “I did not send or beg anyone to lobby the federal government of Nigeria on my behalf and will never do that. And even if such a request is granted, I will not honor it because the cabals in Aso Rock are not to dictate things for me.

“What I can assure you is that my mother must be buried. When she was alive, she told me to do everything within my power to restore Biafra.

“I may attend her burial or I may not but certainly, the burial must be done,” the IPOB leader told VOA.

Meanwhile, Nnamdi Kanu is leading a group (IPOB) seeking secession from Nigeria. The group has since been proscribed by the Federal Government of Nigeria led by President Muhammadu Buhari.
