President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived Abuja, Nigeria’s capital from Sochi, Russia where he participated in the maiden edition of the Russia-Africa summit. Naija News reports that President Buhari arrived Abuja a few minutes ago, a terse statement on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, by Bashir Ahmad, the Personal Assistant on New Media to the President confirmed.

2. Court Orders Maina To Be Remanded In Prison

Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered that Abdulrasheed Maina, the former chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT) be remanded in prison custody. The judge gave the order on Friday when Maina was brought before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

3. Supreme Court Delivers Final Judgment On Governor Wike’s Election

The election of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, South-south Nigeria, has been upheld by the Supreme Court of Nigeria sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. Naija News reports that the Supreme Court upheld the election of the Rivers state governor on Friday, October 25.

The decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to reject the candidates of Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) and Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) for the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi State, has been upheld by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital. Naija News reports that the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court upheld the decision by INEC on Friday, October 25.

6. Edo 2020: PDP Select No-Zoning Policy For Governorship Candidate, Chairman

The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has adopted no zoning policy in selecting the party’s governorship candidate in 2020. The opposition party also noted that the position of the state chairman would not be zoned as well.

7. Sex-For-Grades: Police Invites Suspended UNILAG Lecturer

The lecturer at the University of Lagos, Dr. Boniface Igbeneghu who was recently involved in the sex-for-grades scandal has been invited by the Lagos State Police Command. The command in a letter of invitation asked the suspended pastor at the Foursquare Gospel Church, to report at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, on October 23, 2019.

The Federal Government has told the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) that there is no going back on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) for workers. This was stated on Thursday by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed at the budget defence session organised by the Senate Committee on Finance in Abuja.
