2023: APC Inaugurates Screening Committees Today

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a party rocked by greed and fear of failure owing to its own poor performance in Bayelsa.

Naija News reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the Bayelsa State Governorship Election for November 16, 2019.

In a statement on Thursday by the party’s state Publicity Secretary, Doifie Buokoribo, the APC said the ruling party in the state is trying to create panic.

The APC said the Governor Seriake Dickson-led PDP is only managing their anxiety by raising false alarm.

According to the opposition party, false accusation and panic-mongering have been PDP’s signature election eve dress rehearsal for violence and electoral manipulation.

“The party seems even more desperate this time. Hit by a wave of defections and imminent consequence of its poor performance, PDP in Bayelsa is nervous. And it has entered a persecution complex mode,” the statement reads.

“In addition to the known contents of the PDP terror package, as hinted by its state chairman, APC is aware of the governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson’s plot to ‘pardon’ some hardened criminals who had been convicted for various criminal offences, apparently, for use as foot soldiers in his party’s electoral violence and manipulation scheme. Obviously conscious of the fact that this evil plot has been exposed, Dickson and PDP are hastily clutching at the last straw of panic-mongering.

“But, unfortunately for them, their strategy has become an old joke to Bayelsans.”

The APC insisted that it will not be distracted by PDP’s antics ahead of the governorship election, stressing that the party will win the upcoming election.

Recall that the Bayelsa State Chairman of the PDP, Moses Cleopas had berated the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, for raising false alarms.

Oshiomhole had accused the PDP of stockpiling arms to cause violence in the November 16 governorship election in the state.

Responding, Cleopas said Oshiomhole and the APC leadership were making up those allegations to justify the deployment of soldiers to the state.

The state PDP leader urged Nigerians to ignore the desperate attempt of the APC to cause mischief and mayhem in the state.

According to him, it was absurd and ridiculous for Oshiomhole and the Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Yekini Nabena, to make wild allegations about arms stockpiling against the PDP.

Cleopas said Oshiomhole would recall how he was hurried out of Bayelsa State to avoid being kidnapped by the leaders of the APC during their primaries in 2015.
