FG Keeps Mum On Herders' Killings In Nasarawa

Thunderbolt has struck eight cows to death at Ikare-Akoko in Akoko North East Local Government Area of Ondo state.

Naija News reports that this is coming barely a month after about 50 cows belonging to Fulani herdsmen were struck to death by thunder and lightning in Ijare community in the Ifedore LGA of Ondo state.

The latest case is reported to have happened at Ekan quarters of Ikare-Akoko on Tuesday.

It was gathered that herdsmen who owned the cows had planned to conceal the death of the cows with the intent of allegedly selling the meat to unsuspecting public.

The herdsmen were said to have roasted and started selling them to butchers in Akoko area before they were caught.

Meanwhile, Naija News reports that the Ondo State Government has banned sales of cow meat allegedly struck to death by thunderstorm in Ikare-Akoko.

The Director of Environmental Health Services in Akoko North-East Local Government, Mrs Yemisi Adeniyi and her counterpart from Akoko Northwest, Mr Ojo Anthony, revealed that they had arrested some butchers from taking the cow meat to markets.
