The senator representing Kano South Senatorial district, Kabiru Gaya, has described tribalistic allegation levelled against the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, as a mere distraction.

Senator Gaya charged Nigerians to ignore such allegations against the Vice President.

Recall that Naija News had reported that a second republic lawmaker, Dr Junaid Mohammed, accused Osinbajo of been tribalistic while acting as President.

Mohammed had accused the Vice President of appointing people from a section of the country and members of his church into government positions.

Gaya while reacting to the allegation told State House Correspondents after a private meeting with Osinbajo on Tuesday that the allegation was unfounded and did not reflect the true position of things in the office of the vice president.

He called on the Vice President to disregard the allegation and continue performing his duty as Vice President, he urged him not to be distracted.

The lawmaker, who is also chairman, Senate Committee on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), also said that the National Assembly might consider the de-registration of some political parties in Nigeria.

“Actually, we are going to de-register almost 85 political parties because they are not qualified.

“They don’t even have a counsellor or a House of Assembly member; so all those parties should be de-registered,” he said.
