FG Gives Update On New Minimum Wage Payment

Reactions Trail Agreement On New Minimum Wage

Operatives of government security outfits in Nigeria are also set to benefit from the recently agreed upward review of the minimum wage.

Recall as previously reported by Naija News, the Federal Government and organised labour have finally agreed on the implementation template for N30,000 new national minimum wage.

This follows fruitful discussions from their meeting on Thursday night which was concluded in the early hours of Friday,18th October.

The hint that the security operatives will also benefit from the minimum wage review was dropped by Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s Minister of State for Labour and Employment.

According to a Tweet by Keyamo while speaking on the negotiations between the government and labour leaders, “those of the law-enforcement agencies have also been done, but are not captured in this Memorandum”.

This online medium couldn’t however as the time of filing this report, independently confirm if the increase will be in the same range provided for other government workers.

Recall the negotiating parties agreed that salaries of workers for Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure (CONPSS) on grade level 07, according to the new template, will increase by 23.2 per cent; grade level 08 at 20 per cent; grade level 09 at 19 per cent; from grade level 10 – 14 at 16 per cent and from grade level 15 – 17 at 14 per cent.
