Tension As Gunmen Kill Five Soldiers In Anambra Community

Unknown gunmen have abducted the Headteacher of Dangamji Primary School, Abdul Hafiz, and two others at Doka filling station in Birnin Gwari, in Kaduna State.

Naija News understands that two other individuals were shot at and seriously wounded.

Reacting in a statement to newsmen, the Chairman, Birnin Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance, Ibrahim Abubakar Nagwari, also disclosed that armed bandits on Wednesday opened fire on vehicles around Polwaya and abducted a bread vendor, about ten kilometres from Birnin-Gwari.

“Similarly, the armed bandits struck again on Wednesday near Gayam village, wounded three vigilantes and abducted people from vehicles.

“The notorious Unguwar Yako, Kwanan Mahaukaciya and indeed entire Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna highway have been overtaken by bandits terrorising and abducting innocent people especially women and children,” he said.

Ibrahim Nagwari noted that armed bandits have launched a major onslaught against innocent civilians and motorists across the length and breadth of Birnin-Gwari LGA of Kaduna State in the last three weeks.

According to him, the bandits carry out their nefarious act along Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna highway in broad daylight without any challenge from the security personnel.

“The strategic Birnin-Gwari-Funtua road has been deserted, while the entire eastern part of Birnin-Gwari neighbouring Zamfara and Katsina states is now surrounded by armed bandits,” he added.

Naija News reports that eight people comprising six female students and two teachers who were abducted by gunmen earlier in the month are yet to be released.

It was gathered that the kidnappers who had previously demanded a ransom of N50 million later requested for N80 million.

An official of the school who is involved in the bargain for the victims’ freedom, said the kidnappers increased their demand after listening to reports of the abduction on the radio.
