Senate Stops Press Men From Budget Defence, Gives Reason

The defence of the 2020 budget for the various  Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) commenced today behind closed doors.

Naija News Understands that the Senate all the pressmen present for the event from covering the proceedings.

According to the Senate Spokesperson, Dayo Adeyeye the details in the 2020 budget is a sensitive issue and cannot be discussed in the presence of pressmen. He also reveals that the presence of  the pressmen will constitute a distraction when sensitive issues are being discussed.

Confirming his position, a member of the Committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Sandy Onuh (Cross Rivers), said: “In governance, there is the secrecy oath. If there is no secrecy, why is that law there, it ought to have been abrogated. There is need for you to do your job without any distraction.”
