An ex-boss, of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG), Prof. Anya O. Anya has indicted the present government over the increasing debt profile of the nation.

According to a recent report by the Debt Management Office (DMO), Nigeria owes N25.7 trillion in debt both domestically and externally.

Speaking on the increasing debt of the Nigerian government, Professor Anya said the present administration has borrowed in three years more than what the country borrowed in 30 years previously, adding that for the country to remain peaceful and get the economy working better, it must return to the basics of federalism, as the foundation of her national enterprise.

Anya also decried the slow growth of the Nigerian economy, saying that the economy is growing at a miserly rate of two percent, while the population is growing currently at 3.8 percent nearly double the economic rate of growth.
