Nigerian Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka has cried out over the increasing deplorable situation of the Nigerian education sector.

Naija News earlier reported that Soyinka made the assertion during the presentation of a play entitled: ‘Folly of Men’, at the University of Lagos on Sunday, as part of activities commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Government College, Ibadan.

Responding to questions from journalists at the event, Soyinka noted that the education system is horrifying, adding that it is at a really low level. The playwright lauded the GCI Old Boys Association for organising the programme and also intervening to resuscitate the infrastructure at their alma mater.

Meanwhile, Reno Omokiri, a former aide to the ex-president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan has reacted to the assertion of Nobel laureate Professor about the deplorable situation of the Nigerian education sector.

According to the ex-aide to the former president of Nigeria,

Wole Soyinka says Nigerian education is in trouble. Soyinka is part of the trouble. He asked Nigerians to reject @GEJonathan, who budgeted ₦424 billion for education, for General @MBuhari who budgeted just ₦48 billion. What did he expect from Affidavit holder?

speaking further reno asked Buhari to name a school he had built as the president of the Nation.

165 Almajiri schools, 42 new secondary schools, 12 new Federal Universities, 5 new federal polytechnics. All stated and COMPLETED! Please can you tell me the name of even one school General @MBuhari, Soyinka’s hero, has built?
